Dr. Lowbrow’s Back!

On only my second cup of coffee this morning, and I'm cheered to note that that pre-eminent composer, author, teacher, poet and teddy bear Dr. Lowbrow has launched a new weblog. I have of course no idea what happened to her old one, must've been the beta version, but the new one, Pomomusic, is a must-read.

She's making me think again, damn her, this time about the relationships between those who make things and those who use the made things, often to make other things, writers and readers and the inadequacy of defining someone as a "writer" or a "reader", since that implies that she is always or mostly one or the other. Relationships are transitory, mutable, and yet the language we use to talk about them impose constancy and permanence.

Seems to me that when the relationships in our own lives become as unchanging and rigid as the categorizing terms we use to define them, we go out of our way to introduce change. We seek transformation, and regard the lack of it as a kind of death.

    Teddy bear?

The old blog was short-lived and Radio. The new blog is Moveable Type and mine, mine, mine.

Thanks, Ginger, for the nice mention.

2 of my most favorite thinkers feeding ideas back and forth to each other. There are so many things to love about blogs, if this sort of synergy can happen.
