I was working my way toward this one yesterday, and instead took a nap. No more smiling on passport photos in Canada.
Seems no one smiles at the Customs Man, so they're fed up with trying to match the cheery faces on passports to the glazed, bunny-in-headlights stares of returning vacationers trying desparately to remember what they did with their receipts while hungover from the flight home. This way, Customs & Immigration won't be confronted over and over and over with the evidence of just how many people don't want to talk to them.
No word yet on if we'll need to also hold our passport numbers up on little placards just beneath our chins.
